Success Stories

With nearly 5,000 individuals placed in living wage jobs, Seattle Jobs Initiative has more success stories than we can possibly share—though we wish we could tell them all! These are stories of people who have experienced a variety of challenges in their lives that have made it difficult to find, keep and advance in good-paying careers. With SJI’s help, they have overcome these challenges, going on to great success in new jobs. Here are just a few of our success stories to inspire you.

Esther Spare

Esther worked in fast food restaurants and manual labor until she found SJI's office occupations program. Less than one year after graduation, she is an operations manager with JTS Manage Services.

Hong Zhang

Hong traded a life of working in fast food restaurants for a short-term training program through SJI. She now has a higher income, full benefits, and best of all, enjoys her weekends off with her children.

Michael Fogel

Michael was homeless before he entered SJI's office training, which helped him land a job at the insurance brokerage firm, Kibble & Prentice.

Jessica Torres

Jessica is now a project manager at a furniture company, and was recently able to purchase her own home.

Alex Ocampo

After completing SJI's High Tech program, Alex got a job at a local technology company, where he makes over 40K per year.

Ranbir Singh

After immigrating from India, Ranbir is now a welder at Genie Industries.

Linda Eaves

Currently an Administrative Specialist making $21 per hour.
