Employment & Training Programs

SJI supports job seekers in acquiring the skills, training and support you need to enter a career that offers good wages, benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Our employment and training programs for Seattle residents will help connect you to job training with the support of a Career Navigator — a community expert who will provide you with individualized career planning, resources and strategies to support you in moving toward a living-wage career. Our programs are designed to help you develop your technical skills and performance skills, such as goal setting, communication and interview preparation.

Are you a South King County job seeker? SJI’s CareerReady program provides you with free, two-and-a-half-day Manufacturing training with Aerospace Joint Apprentice Committee (AJAC) and support for a career in Manufacturing. Training starts with free, two-day Advanced Manufacturing Prep (AMP) and a half-day of SJI’s performance skills training.

After AMP, you’ll have the support you need to begin AJAC’s 10-week Manufacturing Academy training, or you’ll enter job search. You will be matched with a Career Navigator who will connect you to support services and provide job placement assistance with businesses committed to your career growth. We partner with AJAC, community-based organizations and local businesses to provide job seekers opportunities to advance along a career path. This program offers you the opportunity to develop both your technical skills and performance skills.

All SJI program participants will develop their performance skills through SJI’s CareerGROW curriculum, which empowers participants to explore their strengths and learn the necessary skills to succeed at work. The curriculum focuses on five critical characteristics — Attendance, Attitude, Ability, Accountability, and Adaptability — and three Success Principles — Growth Mindset, Self-Leadership, and Communication.
