The maritime industry needs well-trained, skilled workers today to fill the jobs of tomorrow.

Harbor Island Training Center’s Classroom-In-A-Shipyard program was designed to meet maritime industry needs. Run by industry professionals, this program teaches the necessary skills to become a shipyard welder with highly employable skills.

The goal of the program is to strengthen the Seattle maritime industry and to produce marketable graduates who are ready to fill the needs of this flourishing field.

About the program

This is a six-month training program that prepares you for a career in the booming Maritime Industry! Classes are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and sessions are held twice yearly. Aside from your training, you will participate in industry tours and presentations.

Through Classroom-In-A-Shipyard, you’ll earn multiple welding & industry certifications; connect with employers dedicated to your career growth, including second-chance employers for re-entry candidates; and develop interview and resume-building skills.
