PREPARE FOR A NEW CAREER WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE FERRIES AND OTHER MARITIME SECTOR EMPLOYERS

SJI’s new Career Opportunity Maritime Preparation and Support Services (COMPASS) training is starting this May! Located at the Seattle Maritime Academy, COMPASS is a FREE, intensive 3-week, in-person training focused on getting you ready for employment in the Washington State Ferries system.

What You Get

  • Assistance with obtaining an MMC credential and TWIC card
  • Necessary foundation and required certificates to begin work immediately, commence advanced training, or pursue post-secondary maritime studies

Program Eligibility

  • 18-26 years old
  • High School graduate or completed GED
  • Able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Pass a background check
  • Able to obtain a TWIC card and MMC credential
  • Low-income, minority, or other program eligibility
